Dutch publisher to use AI to translate ‘limited number of books’ into English

A major Dutch publisher plans to trial translating books into English using artificial intelligence.

Veen Bosch & Keuning (VBK) – the largest publisher in the Netherlands, acquired by Simon & Schuster earlier this year – is “using AI to assist in the translation of a limited number of books”, Vanessa van Hofwegen, commercial director at VBK said.

Macmillan launches limited editions brand, Fablelistik editions

Macmillan has announced the launch an operation unique to large publishers, one that it says is dedicated to reinforcing the concept of books as works of art. The Fablelistik Editions brand has been two years in the making, said Fablelistik publishing director Taylor Armstrong, who had previously served as associate director of custom sales at Macmillan.
